Saddleworth WI was reformed in 2008 by a group of new mums eager to discover new interests and connect with like-minded women. Since then, we’ve grown into a vibrant, welcoming community of women of all ages, united by friendship, curiosity, and a shared sense of fun.
We host 11 meetings each year, with December usually reserved for a more relaxed social event. Our monthly gatherings feature a guest speaker who shares their passion, experience, or expertise – often leaving us inspired, entertained, or simply thinking in new ways.
As part of the Lancashire Federation of Women’s Institutes (LFWI), we also have the opportunity to take part in regional and national events. These include the Lancashire Council Meetings and the National WI Annual Conference, sometimes held at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.
Saddleworth WI is run by an enthusiastic committee supported by member volunteers who help shape our varied and exciting programme. We also have several subgroups that cater to specific interests – ranging from books and crafts to cinema outings, dining adventures, and fundraising initiatives. Most of these groups meet monthly and are free to attend.
