Weekend walks take place on the Sunday after the monthly meeting.
In summer, there are shorter evening walks usually on Tuesdays.
Let us know you’re coming, then just show up at the starting point with good footwear (preferably boots) and suitable clothing.
Need help with directions or wondering how challenging a walk will be? Just ask!
Members and visitors walk at their own risk. Neither Saddleworth WI nor any walk leader is responsible for accidents or incidents.
All walks subject to change.
Evening Walk – Tuesday 20th May
Walkerwood Reservoir
Meeting point – The bottom of Brushes Road, Stalybridge, SK15 3EH. Turn in off Huddersfield Road & drive down and park close to where the houses end.
Meeting time – 6.30pm
Duration of walk – approx. 1.5-2 hours plus travel time
The walk starts on the flat through the country park and hugs the reservoir. We then climb a gentle hill which becomes steeper for the second part. We follow a path across the moors which can be a little uneven underfoot but has great views towards the end. The path then drops down and joins back up with the one we climbed at the beginning of the walk.
Please let us know if you are coming by completing the WhatsApp poll.

Review of Walking Group 11/11 Challenge 2020
Walkers approached this in a variety of ways, from walking 11,000 steps each day for 11 days, to walking for 11 hours over the course of a week, being sponsored and donating to The Royal British Legion. Collectively they walked 336 miles, the equivalent of walking from Oldham to Truro in Cornwall! Well done to all walkers – what an educational and poignant project! The final amount raised was £395.
