BREADMAKING AT SADDLEWORTH COOKERY SCHOOL
Our Breadmaking workshop at Saddleworth Cookery School did not go ahead earlier this year, firstly due to threatened heavy snow and secondly due to the Covid pandemic. The decision to cancel the workshop for safety reasons was made at the very last minute and we had already sent the payment to the cookery school. As it was our decision to cancel the evening we were only entitled to a credit note rather than a refund. This wasn’t going to be an issue as we expected to hold the Breadmaking workshop later in the year and had also planned to arrange an evening at their Canapes and Cocktail workshop.
Unfortunately it is looking more and more likely that it will be quite some time before we can all attend a workshop together.
Pam Jones (Saddleworth Cookery School owner) has offered to provide all attendees with a Gift Voucher (valid for 12 months minimum) for the value of the event which was £25 per person. This Gift Voucher can be printed with a Christmas theme so it can be used as a present or a General theme which can be used towards the cost of the many small workshops that she is currently running. Details of the small workshops (classes), with one person at each bench, can be found on SCS website (saddleworthcookery.com). Alternatively the Gift voucher can be used to purchase items from the school, full details can be found under ‘shop’ on the website. Indeed if we can arrange another workshop in the next 12 months or so then the voucher may be used towards that.
The Committee want to make a special effort this Christmas, after all it is the season” to be jolly”, and invite our members to take part in a “Secret Santa”. We have come up with a plan that follows all COVID19 safety rules and social distancing, at the same time as giving our members the feeling of goodwill as well as the connection we all crave for with our friends in SWI. It will work like this:
- Buy and wrap your gift.
- You will be contacted to arrange a delivery/pick up date (arranged by a member of the Committee).
- The delivery of a gift to you and the pick up of your gift for the next person will happen simultaneously.
- The Committee member will then deliver your gift to the next person and pick up theirs and so on and so on…
It would be nice if you enclosed a Christmas card or little message for the recipient of your gift, and you could add your name if you wish.
